Talbingo 2013 Convention

The unique quality of this competition is the availability to fish three different dams in one weekend. 

When: 18th, 19th & 20th October

Where: Talbingo Township Headquarters

Convention Costs:

  • Seniors: Fully Catered $70-
  • Juniors: Fully Catered $45-
  • Family: (2 Adults, 2 Kids) $180-    Additional Child $25-

Entries close on 4th October 2013

Entries received by 27th September go into the 'Early-Bird' prize draw valued at approx. $400- (Please note that late catered entries are at the committees discretion)

Competitors are requested to register at the Convention Headquarters upon arrival and enter the "Mystery Weight Competition"

Due to past numbers and catering constraints numbers are limited and entries may be refused once maximum numbers received.  

Convention Details

Competition commences Midnight Friday 18th and finishes at Midday Sunday 20th October.

All catch cards and/or Fish are to be within the weigh area by 12 midday sharp on Sunday. No Late Weigh ins.

All entrants agree to abide by NSW Fisheries and MSB Waterways requirements.

Entrants can fish Jounama, Blowering, Talbingo or any combination of all 3 dams.

Convention headquarters is the Talbingo Mountain Retreat. 

Registration begins at 4pm on Friday 18th October.

Catering is provided at the Talbingo Mountain Retreat Function Room. 

Competitors can fish under ANSA rules or in the open line class event.

Species- Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Yellowbelly & Redfin. Remember it is closed season for Murray Cod, all Cod must be released unharmed. 

Prizes and Raffles

Over $5000- in prizes and raffles are to be won. Lots of prizes for kids and families.

Secret weight competition for all registered competitors!

ASNA Section:

*Events marked with an asterisk are eligible for Angling Convention Circuit (ACC) points. Points calculated on 2kg line class.

Awards:

  • Champion Male
  • Champion Female
  • Champion Junior Boy
  • Champion Junior Girl

These awards are decided by highest aggregate points.

  • Heaviest Trout - Senior
  • Heaviest Trout - Junior Boy
  • Heaviest Trout - Junior Girl
  • Heaviest Native - Senior
  • Heaviest Native - Junior Boy
  • Heaviest Native - Junior Girl

Champion Club- will be decided on the 5-4-3-2-1 basis.

Open Section:

Senior- Male / Senior- Female / Junior- Boy / Junior- Girl

  • Largest Rainbow Trout
  • Largest Brown Trout
  • Largest Yellowbelly
  • Largest Redfin
  • Overall Champion Angler

Weigh In Conditions:

Contestants must weigh in their own fish. Fish must be weighed whole. Fish must be at least 300g to be eligible. Fish must be of table quality.

 

Meal Times  

Friday: 6pm to 9pm

Saturday: Breakfast 5am to 8am, Lunch (Collect at Breakfast), Dinner 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Sunday: Breakfast 5am to 8am, Lunch 12 noon.

Fully Catered entries include dinner, Breakfast, Cut Lunch & Dinner Saturday and Breakfast & BBQ Lunch Sunday.

Each Entrant is to provide their own crockery and cutlery. A wash up area will be provided.

Accommodation Available

Convention Headquarters are at the Talbingo mountain Retreat. The Retreat has a limited number of motel style accommodation available at a discounted rate for the Convention. These rooms have shared facilities. Please book this accommodation through Wagga Wagga Boat Club Anglers Treasurer, Allana Dennison 02 69255247.

NSW Maritime Regulation

"Life-Jackets MUST be worn at all times on Alpine waters on ALL boats less than 4.8m" Talbingo and Blowering Dams have both been declared Alpine Waters.

Catch and release Award

A special perpetual trophy will be awarded for the largest Yellowbelly caught and released.

The release must be witnessed by another competitor and is judged on the length of the fish, not weight. In the event of two equal length fish being caught then the first will be the winner.
